When the application involves continuous flexing or high temperature, go back to the spec sheet — don't trust the friendly salesperson.

When to Ignore My Advice

As much as I love the 15-minute framework, it has limits. If the application is in a medical implant, aerospace critical flight control, or anything where a catastrophic failure means loss of life, stop the clock. You need a full materials engineering review, not a procurement screen.
